Senior Portfolio Manager - Equities

The role focuses on managing and implementing investment mandates, taking into consideration the client's objectives, Waterfield Portfolio Manager’s strategy, risk, and compliance guidelines. Discretionary portfolio managers oversee investment decisions and client portfolio performance in their area of coverage.

Roles and Responsibility

  • Invest, manage, and deliver adequate risk adjusted returns for mandates in compliance with portfolio guidelines and processes.
  • Ensure proper planning and timely execution of the trades.
  • Monitor investment universe to identify investment opportunities aligned with our investment strategy.
  • Contribute to investment strategy definition and idea generation process.
  • Monitor market risk and exposures and generate regular reporting on underlying exposure across mandates.
  • Plan and execute trades on clients’ behalf on a daily/weekly/monthly basis.
  • Mentor Junior fund managers/analysts.
  • Work and communicate with relationship managers to update clients on their mandates.
  • Assist our relationship managers in key prospect pitches.
  • Assist our relationship managers on key client meetings.
  • Create sustainable relationships with our customers through regular portfolio reviews.
  • Participate in any related investment project by the business.
  • Work with Head of Discretionary Portfolio Management on creation/refinement of processes employed by the practice.
  • Submit weekly performance & risk compliance reports to Head of Practice.
  • Prepare a monthly market update & share It with the broader team.
  • Prepare individual investment thesis on all the fund managers that form part of the manager shortlist.

Preferred Skills

  • 9-14 years of relevant experience in Portfolio Management/Asset Management and analyzing/ managing equity portfolios.
  • Experience in Manager Selection analysis.
  • Expertise in Equities analysis is required.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management principles and techniques.
  • Familiarity with Bloomberg, Excel is a must. Data analysis and programming skills are an advantage.
  • Good understanding of High-Net-Worth Wealth Management.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills with a team player attitude.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and listening skills.
  • High capacity to challenge status quo.
  • Possession of CFA charter would be a plus but is not a mandatory requirement.
