Director - Business Development (Discretionary PMS)

The Discretionary Portfolio Management team is looking for a candidate to Lead our business development efforts within the discretionary space. The candidate will own the sales plan and the client engagement for the practice.

This is a new role, for Purpose, and reports to the Head of business directly.

Responsibilities

• Be our brand ambassador.
• Displaying a significant degree of knowledge about our offering.
• Focus on articulating our investment capabilities and expertise to internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Act as a proxy fund manager with clients, particularly for clients with AUM below 100 Crores. Assist the segment head in road-shows & prospect meetings.
• Responsible for the creation and distribution of investment content across the range of strategies.
• Communication is vital. Be the key contact person for firm’s relationship managers.
• Engage with relationship managers on a monthly basis and keep an open line of communication, especially during tricky periods like market sell-offs.
• Responsible for sales to other institutions (B2B). Develop prospects.
• Support products development. Work with clients and our Product team to create the solutions our clients want.  Help amend, where appropriate, existing solutions.
• Support marketing. Contribute to overall marketing strategy.  Constantly deliver client and market feedback internally to the team.
• Drive efficiency. Improvement of processes to enhance productivity.  

Requirements

• 15+ years of investment counselling, consultative selling experience & institutional sales experience preferred. Minimum experience requirement can be moderated by few years for exceptional candidates.
• Experience in collaborating/working closely with a team of wealth managers to deliver solutions to clients would be a big plus.
• Knowledge of portfolio management principles and techniques like asset allocation, investment selection techniques in equity/fixed income & portfolio rebalancing etc.
• Knowledge & experience in portfolio performance attribution analysis.
• Master's degree in Business/Finance or any related discipline would be an advantage.
• Good understanding of High-Net-Worth Wealth Management.
• Having an outgoing nature can be a great strength, but we are looking for a good listener.
• Deep experience and fluency with investment solutions.
• Analytics-first approach to business development; preference for data informing actions.
• Comfort working in a fast growing and entrepreneurial environment.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• ‘Winning’ mindset; strong goal orientation.
• Ability to travel when required.
• Familiarity with both firms and people across investments landscape would be an added advantage.
